Updating your CMS page

Updating your website using the installed content management system is very easy. You can make any change, whenever you want. Below we will show you how easy it is to update you website pages using the installed CMS (Wordpress).

First thing you need to do is to navigate to your admin panel of your website. Do this by adding /wp-admin/ at the back of you website address as show below. Then press enter or navigate to it. Please note, Firefox is preferred as a browser to update your website pages.

1

Once you have done this you should get to a page where you can enter your username and password to gain access to the admin side of your website. If you do not have a username and password for you site, please do not hesitate to contact us so that we can provide you with one. Once you have entered your username and password press the “Log In” button.

2

Once you enter the correct details you should end up at your Dashboard of the admin side of your website. From here you will notice a few items straight away. On the main dashboard you will see the amount of pages, posts, comments, a quick post creator, news and much more. These will be explained in later tutorials. What you should notice for this tutorial is the menu on the left-hand side of the screen and particular the Pages option. Once you click on the “Pages” heading, a drop down menu will appear like below.

4

To get the list of all your current pages so that you can edit them simply click on the “Edit” option underneath the “Pages” menu option. You should get a list of your current pages like below.

5

Once you receive your list of pages, move your mouse and “hover” your mouse over the Title of the page. You should see some option appear underneath the Title (see below). Click on the “Edit” option to start to edit that particular page.

6

Once you click on the option you should get to the page edit screen. On this screen you will see a few options, but we will only concentrate on the ones as marked below. Enter your Title in the mark field (normally you do not need to change this when you only update the page). You can edit or add content in the area marked for content. You can also decide what the page order of this page is on the main menu. Once you are done editing your page you can click on the Update Page button.

7

Once you clicked on the Update Page button the screen will load and if the page was updated successfully you will see a yellow status notice at the top of the page that will indicate that the page was updated (see below). Now you can go visit your site again and see the changes you have made. It is that simple. Please feel free to look at the rest of our tutorials for even more information. You can also leave your remarks and comments at the bottom of this page if this page was helpful to you.
