1. Get your domain name.
   1. Your domain name is what people will see after your @ sign in your e-mail address and also the address people will go to see your website, i.e.
      e-mail: sales@yourdomainname.co.za
      website: www.yourdomainname.co.za
   2. If you already have a business name try and incorporate this into your web address. For instance, LPF Systems CC has www.lpfsystems.co.za as a website.
2. Choose you hosting and e-mail package
   1. The hosting package will determine how much space you have for your website to store your photos, graphics and web pages on the internet. It also includes the amount of e-mail addresses you can have and if you have access to webmail and other specifications.
   2. You hosting package usually includes visitor statistics as well. Stats allow you to track your online marketing efforts and see if people are responding to your site.
   3. The example below is our basic hosting package which gives you 10 mailboxes and 30 aliases. Each mailbox can be downloaded separately from one another – from one PC or different PCs. It’s the same concept as your physical post office address boxes. Each box is separate. Aliases are extra e-mail addresses you can link to a mailbox. It’s the same as having your post office box (mailbox) and getting letters for different people in your home (aliases) in one mailbox.

   

3. Setting up your e-mails to use the new domain as your e-mail.
   1. Once you have decided which package to go for, you have to choose your e-mail addresses. You do not need to use all 10 mailboxes (or 30 aliases) at once. You can always add e-mail addresses later. Just contact us to set it up for you.
   2. We will provide you with the relevant information and steps to setup your e-mail address on your favourite e-mail client, i.e. Outlook, Outlook Express or Windows Mail.
   3. Remember to setup your signature on your e-mail program.
4. Get photos, graphics and colours for your website.
   1. When you decide to put up a website, even if it is just a one page to give your company information, you need to remember to keep the colour scheme of the website the same as your business colour scheme. For example Kodak would have their website contain yellow and red. Also adding photos and graphics makes it more pleasant for your visitors and gives it a personal touch.
   2. You can either opt to do the website yourself (would not be recommended if you do not have sufficient knowledge) or get a web designer or student web designer) to do the site for you. It all depends on how much functionality you want for your website.
   3. We offer a basic web design service where we can setup a basic site for you with your colours and some graphics and a few pages, i.e. Company Profile, Contact Us, Products, Services, etc. The cost will differ depending on the amount of pages/graphics you need.
   4. You also have a choice where we setup the site for you the first time and you have the functionality to edit the content on the pages as you need and when you want to.

5. Get your website on the hosting package with your domain name.
   1. Once you are happy with the look and feel of you site you/we/web designer will upload your site to the internet with your photos and graphics. Once this is done, your internet site is live and you can start to send people to it.
6. Getting visitors to your website.
   1. The first and easiest way to start to do this is put a signature on your outgoing e-mails. Try to avoid having images as your signature as not all mail clients can see this. If you need help you can always contact us.
   2. The second would be to add your website and e-mail addresses on all your stationary.
   3. Thirdly we have a service for a small fee where we will submit your website to the different search engines (like Google) and such and make the necessary changes to your site to optimize it for the search engines.
   4. We will also setup site statistics for your site so that you can track who, where and when visitors is coming to your site.
